I'm looking to buy some kind of scraper to maintain a 2000' road. I'm guessing a grading scraper will serve this purpose better than a box scraper? I've found a used Land Pride GS25 grading scraper for sale. The listing says it has 10 hours use for $750.00 firm. The ad does not say how wide it is. From what I can tell, they come 7 & 8 footers. I'm guessing it's a 7' based on what the seller says the new price was. I have an L4400 tractor. Is this unit too big for my tractor? What are my best options? Thanks very much.

Is your tractor ballasted? That will make all the difference for using one of these implements. The GS2584 is probably ok for your tractor. I would think that the 96 would be a bit big. Honestly, for the price, I would buy it no mater which unit it is. If it works, it works, if not, and it is just to big, sell it. That is a REALLY good price IMO.

Good luck. ;)

Thanks, my tractor is not ballasted. I'm thinking ideally I'd be better off with a six footer?

Try it without the ballast and if it seems like your getting piss poor tractor then have the tires filled.

Sounds like too good a price to pass up to me. Ballasting the rear tires will get you 300-500 lbs/tire depending on if they are R1 or R4, and is not very expensive, although I doubt you will need it. Send pictures when you get it!
