I am a new owner/operator so please don't beat me up. I have a L2180-1 sub-frame with a L2195A snowblower. The Sub-Frame manual has the following paragraph. Does this mean while actively blowing snow or while the PTO is engaged and the auger is turning?

IMPORTANT: To avoid damage to the drive
kit components, do not raise or lower the
snowblower while blowing snow. Always
make this operation when the snowblower
is not blowing.

Welcome and ask away any questions. Sure to get lots of opinions and sometimes some entertainment.

you are correct. that model snow blower does not tolerate well changing the drive line angles while engaged. Place on the ground the power on / off. When lifting or lowering to the ground have it disengaged and should last you a lifetime.

Holy crap, I have a L2195A with the L2180-1 subframe and have been raising and the snowblower with the PTO engaged for going on 13 years. I guess I've been lucky. Could you point out for me where that is stated in the manual, guess I missed that information.
Thanks for bringing this to my attention

Thanks for the feedback. It seems realy impractical to shut down the Blower (disengage the PTO) every time you have to lift it to backup. (I have to do that frequently to do my driveway)

I don't have one so take this as you will.
Seems that the universal joints on the shaft would be able to withstand a bit of "misalignment" from raising and lowering as long as the height different isn't excessive, just like the rear PTO's do for ground contact implements. Constantly engaging and disengaging the PTO over the years, in my mind, would put more stress on the shaft and associated parts than raising it up and down. Then again, I could be totally wrong.
