Hi All I have a set of new radiator hoses coming.
Just wondering if there are any SECRET methods to getting old ones off and installing new ones.
I would rather not cut old ones and was wondering if I should lubricate new innards with some sort of spray or oil that would not deteriorate rubber?
Silicone spray or mineral oil OR???
I plan to use original clamps.
Thanks David

I'd be using new clamps as cheap as they are.

Sometimes you can slip a screwdriver under the end of a radiator hose to break it loose then use a kind of twisting motion while gripping by hand. Sometimes you can use a pair of slip joint pliers to grab the hose near (but not on) the radiator pipe and twist to break it loose. Silicone oil on the new hoses won't hurt. Mineral oil is another name for a refined petroleum oil. I wouldn't use that on rubber.

I use a Craftsman cotter pin remover to get under the hose and break it loose. A little Dawn dish soap on the hoses will help.

Thanks to all that responded.
Today I used radiator flush to clean radiator and then changed the hoses.
They have been on 41 years.
I had good service for getting the new hoses from ALL STATES AG PARTS.
Changing was very easy after loosening clamps and using a silicone spray to get between hose.
Just hand rotated them and were easily removed.
I did spray interior end of hoses as well.
I will check them after next start up for leaks.
Thanks again David
