My dealer just installed a Land Pride QH15 Quick Hitch. However, there is some slop in the lower arms (they did not even tighten the turnbuckle lock nuts). Should the lower arms be rigid or is a little slop OK (about an 1- 1 1/2 side to side, the forward turnbuckle links are hanging down at a rearward angle)?

I can't have any play in mine side to side or it catches on the tire lugs. I only have about 3/8" clearance between the lug and the lower three point hitch bars.

I would not want that kind of play side to side in my hitch assembly? Especially back blading or using a snowblower. I can just see $#|¥ getting bent and broke!

I think the answer you're not looking for is "it depends"

It depends on the implement you've got hooked up whether there should be any side to side play.

For example:

Ballast box - stabilizers should be all tight, no movement.

Bottom plow - should be some side to side movement.

I tighten my Quick hitch down tight with no play. It's usually for a rake or land plane on the roads, so firmer is better.

Currently I only have a LP box blade and a LP brush hog. I am thinking of getting a 66" LP tiller. I have the wider tires and I had to wire the lower arms together when no implement was installed to keep them away from the tires. The quick hitch gives me the space - one of the reasons for buying it - but I have not hooked it up to anything yet so dealer spacing might not be right. It sounds to me that for what I use, I should tighten the turnbuckles to eliminate the play if for nothing else to prevent wear and slack slap (like RR train couplers) and keep the arms away from the tires. Even loose the links are tough enough to last my lifetime, but why risk damage.

I hooked up the Quick Hitch to the brush-hog and box blade. Only caution is make sure the PTO shaft is lowered off the hook as that will be the first thing that hits. It helps to move the center linkage out of the way. With a little shuffling, the lower hooks latched and the center hook latched with a shuffle of the 3 point lever. I am not sure if the just center hook is adequate for operations but the center bolt has a roller on it. One of the other threads has photos of proper linkage hook-up. The QH came with no instruction and the dealer did not provide any guidance (I asked). He showed me how to release the lower latches and that was it.

I had the same problem as Corney, the wide tires gave me very little lower arm linkage clearance. However, the QH gives me about two inches on each side. Now, if I could find a PTO QH, I would be happy.

My PTO shaft on the stock rice paddy tiller is to short to use with the QH. Shaft is not the same as any of my other implements to retrofit. Don't use it enough to spend time and money on it. Once a year I put it on and till the planet. It is the true calling of the DT1500 in my opinion.
