OK my android table wont fully charge all the time. Sometimes it takes a full charge others nada just stays where it was. I dont have another charger to try so I am wondering if I plug the one end into the USB port of my Dell if that would charge it or screw this thing up. I know there are puter geeks here to tell me true guys

It will charge it fine. Depending on the USB version, it may take a while to charge it all the way. Older versions would not put out as much current as the latest version.

Might check your charge cord. The one from your charger to your phone. My wife's phone was doing the same thing. I have the same phone, so I switched chargers and cord and her's charged fine. Then eventually isolated it to the cord problem. Bought a new cord a walmart and it all works fine.

To answer your question. Yes you can plug the usb port into your Dell and it will send power to the phone without messing up the phone or the computer.

If you aren't getting any charge your may have buildup in the port from pocket lint, dust, etc. There are guides online of how to safely clean this out without shorting out the port, and you can find them by typing your phone make and model + cleaning out charging port. Since this is the internet I will warn you to use common sense and don't follow any that say wash it out with water or to use a metal pick.

Other than that I know micro usb has a habit of wearing out over time and your port may just be reaching toast. If this is the case, some phones, not all, have wireless charging capabilities so you might be able to get a little induction puck (made for your phone) and set your phone on it and it will charge wirelessly.

In a former life, I worked in the cell phone industry and the most common cause of charging issues was either corrosion or contamination on either the charger or charging port of the device or a faulty charging block or charging cable. I would verify that the charging port on the device is clean and replace both the charging block and charging cable and see if that solves your problem.

Not all USB ports on a PC are the same. EACH one is 'configured' ( setup ) individually by 'software' ( the USB driver). One of the config values is the amount of current available to the attached USB device depending on the hardware, OS and whomever wrote the code....

If you find yourself needing a cheap but reliable replacement for either the charger or the cord, the brand Anker on Amazon is reasonably priced and very reliabe as these types of things go.
