Usually just glob it on, sand (grind) it down, clean, clean, clean some more, glob some more on, sand/grind, repeat
It's going to be tricky because the oil is going to thin and start wicking through as soon as it sees heat, but it can be done.
2. drain transmission, remove paint, remove material to make a channel over the crack, TIG weld
3. disassemble and replace part
IMHO you have nothing to lose be giving #2 a shot. I successfully did 3 cast aluminum oil pans on autos with the method above.
If the leak stops or slows to tolerable, GREAT!
If it cracks again or gets worse, #3 is always there.

What’d the previous owner say? When you checked it out, were you on dirt or grass? You might not Have noticed it leaking if you were. Can’t believe it just started leaking after putting it on a trailer.
its a bad deal, but if you cant get yer money back, it’s not a show stopper. It doesnt look like a real hard fix once you get past the cost of the part.
sorry to see you going through this with your new tractor.....

I purchased from a business.

Here is a close-up image and you can see 3 small black holes in the paint where it leaks. I am not sure what is going on underneath but perhaps the paint was somehow sealing it in the past and Murphy struck!

Maybe a nice thick coat of enamel will curb it then....

Bought my last M9 open station used (from a JD Dealer) but I went on a Sunday (when no one was around with my trusty Kubota key (same key fits most all of them) and ran it and checked it over very carefully, on top and underneath so I knew what the issues were before I started negotiating with the dealer.

Being a green dealer with an orange tractor and not knowing what he had was to my advantage (as well as 10 grand in cash) for the down payment. Walked away with a pretty good unit (needed some TLC) for 18 and they delivered it. It was 600 miles from here.

Of course owning one (from new) gave me insight as to what to look for plus, when I bought mine new in 2004, it was almost 50 otd so I know what they are worth and pre 4 units are appreciating in value every day anyway.

I put about 4 in it so I have around 22 total. Today, it's worth 30.

No pressure in there, just fluid sloshing around.

Good news. The company took the tractor back and refunded me the full purchase price of $20,700.

I lost $600 in transport costs and also bought $200 in BX tune-up items but I'll buy a new BX23S next year and use the stuff then.

Nice to hear you had a positive outcome. More time to save for the next one.

I'd say that is a "stand up" company! Not many folks would get the problem solved with that result. You'll really enjoy your new tractor, and next year is only 5 months off!!

Tire type is actually known as R4 if you have to go looking for a replacement.
