I have hired a number of backhoes with operators in the past and when they are digging and wish to move them a short distance there is a technique they use. They raise the front bucket and stabilizers and use the hoe to push them forward without ever turning the seat to face forward. Do people do this on the BX25?

I have done it in the past, once you become comfortable with the operating, it is a little nerve wracking initially, but it is easy to do and also if you are on soft ground it is an easier way to get yourself "unstuck". A backhoe in experienced hands can do some amazing things, I have watched some u-tube videos of people doing things with them that just make me shudder, but experience certainly helps, although with some of the stunts, common sense has to kick in sometimes I would think...

I think there is a video on YouTube of a guy loading a backhoe in a dump truck with the loader and the hoe only.

I move my BX this way quite often when trenching. On level ground it's smooth and easy, on an incline.... not so much. You can actually practice on flat ground without digging a hole; put the loader almost on the ground, gear selector in neutral, jacks down most of the way, and then gently push or pull yourself along.

I put the tractor in neutral when using the backhoe so that I can move it with the hoe. I lift the loader up off of the ground, raise the stabilizers, reposition, set the stabilizers, drop the loader back down and get back to digging. I don't know if the HST could get damaged by moving with it gear, so I just leave it in neutral until I'm ready to drive it away.

Especially when digging out a large tree root ball or a large hole, You can just lift the stabilizers and push or pull the whole BX where you need it to keep digging.
