Moving shipping containers & other stuff

I was thinking of getting a L2501 for work around my property. Ive got about 30 acres of hilly, brushy, poison oakey land.

Couple things I want to do:
1) move around my big empty shipping containers.. they are about 9500 lbs empty, but i could shimmy them around one end at a time, or drag them.
anyone done this with containers of that size? Think this beast could do it?

2) I also want to mow and cut through dense brush. Whats a good set of attachments to do this? Brush is usually buckbrush or waist high shrubs.

Possibly but you wouldn't have that beast around long, your going to tear it up. IMO

I do not think I would try to drag a container with the l2501. Your tractor is less then 1/2 the weight. But if you take the time to jack up the container and put some rollers under it, i.e. pipe, post etc, I believe it could it. At least you could put a winch on the tractor and move it. Work? Time consuming? Yes to both but it could be done.

Also if you look at utube there are some clips of people that place a temporary under slung axle in the center and are able to move the container with a small tractor.

Hogging with the l2501 will not be a problem. If you have a hydraulic top link that enables a person to lift the rear of the hog and slowly move into heavy brush the tractor will preform very well.

Renting a larger tractor for a weekend might work to get the first cutting done and then easily maintain it with the 2501.

containers are on flat ground, I could easily bottle jack them up and roll them.
Good to know about sizing.
I’m in the market for a tractor. I wonder if the 2501 is too small.
Recommendations?

You want to move shipping containers...Better step up to an M series at least, with R1's and a hydraulic shuttle (your dry clutch won't last). Would brush hog much better too,

The one you are considering is way too small. For that kind of stuff, a hobby unit won't cut it.

My neighbor re-positioned a 20ft shipping container by jacking it up & placing 8" diameter steel pipes under it for rollers. Ground was hard packed dirt with some gravel. His B2150 would barely move it, and he was worried he would break something, so he used a crew cab, 4wd, F350 diesel instead.

If you got it rolling, could you stop it? You may live on perfectly flat ground. I don't.

I have to move a small container someday, but I have an M5. It can lift it with the 3pt hitch.

Jack up the container, fire some rollers under it, and drag it around. If you are worried about it taking off on a slight slope, it will run off the rollers and stop. I wouldn't do it on any significant slope.

In the early 80s my uncle bought 1000 acres of land in your area. His main machine when he moved there was a D8 caterpillar. He was in Hornitos. Just down the road from you. Lots of rattlesnakes and poison oak. Kubota L 2501 is a great little tractor. Good luck. Lance

For brush around here, folks use flail mowers or stuff like the LaneShark. Not sure what you have to deal with there.

Maybe- after my neighbor's experience, I will use my F350 if needed.
My B7100 weighs around 2700lbs, and the truck weighs 7600lbs.
