Thinking back to my youth when I cut my teeth on N series Fords, I remembered that most of the Ns I ran had nice little clips on the draw bar arms to hold your lynch pins. Some of them even had tethers for them so you didn't lose them. I don't really need the tethers, but decided the BX could use some holders, so I came up with these. I took some 1/2" black pipe, cut two pieces to 1 1/4" length, flattened the back and welded them on. A nice twenty minute job to end the work day!

Nice, only if i could weld. Took 1 class in Junior college a couple years ago

Nice job on the PIN holder!

Slim - you CAN still weld! Just takes a bit of practice.......I too can weld, looks like someone placed hot bubble gum in a crooked line! :D:eek::D

My son #3 is learning to weld over in the AG shop, always showing me his beads.....I get to point out that "went to fast" , "lines aren't straight" etc...
knowing full well that IF I went in there......I WOULD embarrASS myself! :p

Welding is an art form - those who do it almost daily and are great at it, and those who use to know, still do it correctly, just aint doing it enough to be good at it! :)

Nice pin holders. I need tethers on mine. Somehow they find themselves walking away. I have no other explanation. Welding improves with practice. I have found an improvement if i have an armrest to help steady. I made a T stand adjustable height. If i stand on base i can lean on it a little. Made stick welding easier.

Have them on my L275 and 8N, why they eliminated them is a mystery.

Kubota may be trying to save 50 cents. My B8200 has spot with tether, same as L305, Not sure on the L1500.

As they say "practice makes perfect" no welder is born with the proverbial
"golden arm". Get some scrap metal around and just start playing with until you get the hang of how everything melts together and do some reading up on the subject of course too.

My B3030 has the pin holders on it which appear to be made out of 1/4 in rod or a tad lighter. No I'm sure everyone has seen PLENTY ( their fill of )
political signs on wire frames poked in the ground all over god's creation.
They're excellent for recycling/re-purposing as they're about 9 gage wire roughly and plenty heavy enough to use for this same purpose. Use the bench vise or vise grips and a ball peen hammer make a loop big enough to hold the clip and flatten out the ends so you have something to weld on the sides of the lift arms to hold them in. You could do a couple or add them the same way on the attachments you have too.

I'm with tiredguy. Believe it or not, it is like riding a bicycle. Just practice on a 2"x4" chunk of metal similar to what you intend to weld, making lines. By the time you are done you'll have the settings right on the welder and straight enough lines.

We are spoiled these days with auto darkening helmets being relatively cheap. I hated the old flip down jobbers, always made my welds jerky at the start... ! !

I still do practice lines before I start welding, it gets me back into good habits.

As far as the pin holders go, great idea. You can also just put some dummy pins through the eye's and drop the snap ring pins into the dummies... That also keeps the debris out of the eyes!

My old L2202 has them on the inside of the lift arms, just a piece of 1/4" round, bent like this -^-, and welded to the arm. Second best fix is to bolt an old .50 caliber ammo box to a fender, to put all the wrenches and pins, and swear words you need to change 3 point equipment out. My old allis's have a lever to pull, and 2 latches to to open, to dump the attachment, and all you have to do is to back into the next implement straight, 30 second change of attachment.:D
