Hi Everyone,
I was just wondering what everyone does when they change the hst and hydraulic filters at the 200 hour mark.
Do you drain your oil? Like the manual directs or can you just change the filters?

Thanks, but that seems like a pretty high risk of oil Contamination draining all that oil under a dirty tractor. I am hoping that someone had some experience spinning the filters off without all the oil draining.

If you're REALLY quick you can swap a filter with minimal fluid loss. I'm not that quick so I connect a shop vac to the oil fill port. The vacuum provides negative pressure and you lose very little fluid beyond what's in the filter itself. You may wish to have a gallon on hand to replace the quart or two you lose.

I'm sorry. I thought it was time to change your oil and you were just wanting to change the filters, without doing the change, as the manual suggests.

The suggestion using the vacuum is a good idea to keep from losing too much oil when swapping filters.

Sounds like they're at least 2 low hour L48's here. Nice machine. I would change both filter and oil. UDT2 is not cheap, but compared to HST problems, to me it's an easy decision.

Well mine is not low hours at 3850 but the recommended service for hst oil is every 400 hours with filter changes at the 200 hour mark.
Must be nice to have a low hour one.
Incredible machine, mine still runs like a new one.

My 2006 L48 TLB has 258 total hours.
I will be 82 this month, so don't know if I will make it to 400 hours.
