Hello all, long time reader/first time poster because I'm in a real bind.

For the first time my beloved Kubota won't start and I can't locate the trouble- I turn the key and get no lights, nor anything. I did ohm out the switch after removal and the switch does seem good. Battery is 13.9 volts and this is the first time this has happened. All the fuses are good including the 40 amp inline inside the cowling.

I did get some lights once after I removed the fuse block and screwed down a loose wire that looked like a ground. I turned off the key again to see if the lights would come back on and they did briefly but then they slowly faded. I couldn't re-create the situation.

The only anomaly that I can think may have been different is I had a 15 watt solar panel connected to my lead acid battery for about a week that has been known to output 18-19 volts. Could that have fried something?

I have a few manuals but no good wiring diagram. Does anyone have one or does anyone have a clue what could be wrong? Thank you for your time.

First Pull the battery out and get it load tested, most auto parts stores can do it.
Second it sounds like you might have a bad battery cable, most likely a corroded end.

Vandy,

You prolly checked this already but..

I had nearly the same thing happen. Turns out, I had accidentally knocked the PTO select lever just "slightly" out of position and the thing wouldn't start.

Also check you HST rocker pedal and make sure its centered...

Hope you get it running soon.

Ray

Thanks for the replies!
The battery was good but the one thing that surfaced was a crack in the circlip fitting that went over the battery lug. When I tightened it it broke in half. It wasn't the heavy malleable connection but the smaller, thinner bands that go around the lug.
Crazy- I've never seen that happen before.
