Hi I’m new to this forum. Been an auto mechanic for 40 years. Got a massive leak from my steering gearbox. So I’m gonna remove it for ease of working on. The leak is at the top cover and I can’t get the splined shaft out. So on the bench will be better. My problem is I can figure out how to remove the steering intermediate shaft. I have both 12 mm bolts removed at the upper and lower u joint but the shaft does not telescope. So I am stumped on how to remove it from the gearbox

If your trying to remove the shaft in yellow, the joint in green is slotted to slide off the side of the yellow shaft.
Remove the clamp bolt on the joint and the two bolts in the bearing holder and slide the universal off the shaft.
