What all is involved here. Cant seem to see in the manual other than some check marks for certain things. I figure engine oil/filter, but what about hydro filters/ fluid, etc. Its a hydro with a FEL, 4wd

Thanks

For my L3901 at 50 hrs, per the manual, I did engine oil (make sure CJ-4, i used Rotella synthetic 10w-30), oil filter, and HST filter. Get an extra quart or two of HST fluid because some of it leaks out when you change the HST filter, but not much. Easy as pie.

There are several post on here and tractor buy net about using a vacuum on the L series tractor rear end at the fill hole. It does work. You will loose very little oil when you change the filter under the right floor board if it is HST.

50 hr service is engine filter/oil, hydraulic filter and hydro filter and replenish the fluid lost! Check toe in, wheel torques, check brake free pedal and three point hitch free play.

IMO the wheel torque and loader hardware should be checked at the 50 hr mark.

Sorry for the delay and thanks for the advice. I will check into the vacuum on the rear end, seems kind of simple and nice. Is there any issue going to Amsoil in the engine at 50 hrs.? I run it in my '03 Cummins and can tell a huge difference how it runs. Time to brush hog about 5 acres here...if it quits snowing and raining here in Ohio in the middle of May!!

I just did my 50 hr. yesterday then ran it for 3 hours with no issues. most of my neighbors use Amsoil in theirs with no problems.

Took me less than an hour. Filters are about 125+ oil= maybe 200 in parts.
If you can do an oil change in your car you can do this.

I emailed Kubota about this last week and the answer I got was that the fluid (hyd) does not need to be changed until 400 mark due to improvements in the equipment. They recommend that the engine oil and filter be changed as well as the hydraulic and HST filters. The remainder of the 50 hour service is as per the owners manual.

Shop Vac trick works, I didn't loose much more then was in the filters.
All the bolts in the loader post on my 2501 were loose @ 50 hrs.
Don't forget to check the front axle fluid level, mine was low.

This is the email I got from Kubota...

Steve,

Thank you for visiting the website and contacting Kubota Tractor. You are correct in that the transmission fluid does not need to be changed until 400 hours is reached. Traditionally, the transmission fluid was changed at the 50 hour service, but our equipment has improved, making this early service no longer necessary. For the 50 hour service, both the HST and hydraulic filters need to be changed in addition to other actions indicated by the operator's manual.
