On my 2004 model L2800 non HST I was moving some broken up asphalt the other day and evidently a piece flew up and hit the long rod on the transmission shaft going back to the rear end and bent it.
I thought that I had a clutch going bad because it would only pull normal in 1st gear low. In higher gears it would barely pull up a hill. The clutch pedal had NO play in it which from what I have heard it should have between 3/4 and 1" of play.
I pulled the long rod off and straightened it back out but when I put it back on I still had no play in the pedal. I then adjusted the short rod and now I have the required play in the pedal but when I push in the clutch pedal the long rod does not move.
Here are my questions and concerns:

Here are my questions and concerns:
[/- Would the bent rod cause the issue I am describing with the higher gears?
- If it wouldn't then am I looking at a new clutch?
- When I depress the clutch pedal the short rod moves but the long rod doesn't. Is it supposed to or is there something else that make that long rod move?
- How do I know when the long rod is adjusted correctly?
