Okay I've been looking at tractors for a while now and decided to go with a Kubota L series. Now my question is it worth the extra $1500 to get 5 extra horse power with the L 3800 over the L 3200? Going to be maintaining 1/4 mile dirt road on a hill side, plowing snow, cleaning ditches, moving dirt, etc. What do you guys think?

Good question, one I dont have an answer for. They weigh within 50 lbs of one another depending on how configured. engine HP net is about the same. PTO HP is higher as you noted. on paper it looks equal. But I havent put my rear on one yet. are factory implements avail for one and not the other? MM PTO or something? gotta be a reason or they wouldnt make to versions of the same tractor?

anyone own one of these and why?

Oh, glad your here BTW!

I just picked up a new L3200....it can do more than I can!....the dealer can put rear hydro hook ups. It turns tight..the power steering is sweet...more then enuff power at the PTO...FEL is great. I couldn't justify the 1500 diff for just a few HP. just my .02 here....

I love my L3800TD! It has surpassed my expectations and has now moved into the 'Best Tractor I've Ever Owned' category.

My 3800 is a gear drive, with live PTO clutch. I don't believe the 3200 has live PTO in the gear drive?

3800 also has slightly more displacement (larger engine). Other than that they should be very close.

L3200 is a fine tractor, but I tend to go with the most HP in the same model class, be it tractors, trucks, outboards, chainsaw, etc...

I just took posession of anew L3200 and had the same Dilema....3 dealers that I was price shopping all talked me out of it ,saying...If I felt I needed more go with the grand L. All said for the price diff vs the minimal that you get they dont even understand why Kubota offers the 3800. I see now they offer another in that "L" line though. The L4600. Was not even in the roster when I bought, about 5k more. Way more than I desired so would not have gotten it anyway.

I do alot of the same work you mention(excpet the snow part) and it handles it all great.

I am very pleased with my L3200 and so far no regrets and plenty of power.

Just worked the deal with the dealer on the 3200 with FEL and back blade. Might be delivered this week I'm sooo excited! Thanks AR Beatty and Jeff Beatty in Youngsville PA for being so easy to deal with!

Rutman, congrats on the purchase! I know how the waiting is rough but, i'll be great when you get it. Have you started making it's chore list yet? It would be ashame to run out of something to do when you get your new toy. Just remember, you still have to keep us updated.

Congratulations Rutman, bwssr and mkc1962 for the new L3200.

Just wondering how smooth is the 3pth. Hope is not like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AS5VN8McI2Y
the dealer techs can adjust that out....I had heard things about this, and told my sales guy about it..he even knew about it...said they can have it do either way...I can see "stops" if you do alot of spreading..set it at 5..and go, but my land is some what rolling, so I need to move my mowers and blades smothly..so mine is ....well, smooth!
