I just purchased a ZD25 on auction. It seems like the left side hydro isn't as fast/strong as the right side. I do not know the last time the hydro fluid and filter were changed. Where should I start? Change the fluid and filter? Or don't waste my time and tear it apart? Any ideas or suggestions will be greatly appreciated?

I guess the action to be taken depends on how slow and weak it is. The old ZD's are known for starving the left side of oil when operated on slopes. I have a ZD21 with 16XX hours that is slowing down but still has enough power to not be noticeable. Equalizing the speed is done by bending the handles. It certainly can't hurt to change the oil, filter, and clean the suction strainer. Cutting the filter open and seeing what is on the strainer could give you an idea of the severity of your problem.
