Just picked up my new L4060 yesterday, and used it last night. The work lights are pretty weak...the specs say they are 35W bulbs. Are there any LEDs that are direct bulb replacements that throw off significantly better light? I don't want to replace them since I like the factory look of the light housings.

Thanks in advance

Maybe.

The new M4 and LX cab tractors are being supplied with LED work lights. I would expect that all new models will be so equipped soon.

Don't know if they are bolt on replacements for the halogens but the package looks similar so it would not surprise me.

Stay tuned.

Pull the bulb from the fixture. Hopefully it is a common lamp type, though I understand Kubota does use some oddball lights in the headlights. If the work light uses a standard lamp (like 1156) led replacements are available.

Thanks. The headlights are actually very good...good as my truck. I’ll pull the bulbs.

I've had success just doing a google search of the Kubota bulb part #, or found some hints in the parts diagrams for the bulb's description.

Examples:

Looking for an LED headlight, I just googled the Kubota part #, and found associations with an 881 or 886 - common auto lights. Went from there to LED's.

Another bulb description had 1156 in it. 1156 is also a common auto bulb with LED compatibles.

Your worklight fixtures may not have common bulbs, but a place to start.

Good luck, and enjoy the new machine!

Jumping in also, because I would like some LED lights, but so far all i have found will require a little re-wiring, nothing major. Would like to find some simple plug-n-play work lights.

I'm going to pull the bulbs on the work light housings today and try to identify the bulbs. The manual only says they are "35W" which is simply not bright enough to be a good work light, in my opinion.

The worklights are standard H3 halogen bulbs, 12V / 35W.

There is a 55w option you can buy at the parts store; however my concern would be additional heat in the housing AND available alternator power to run them.

Without the high-output alternator option, you have 60A, which translates to about 720 watts. Keep in mind your alternator only produces those 720W at higher engine RPM and when cool. At idle, in warm conditions, it produces significantly less. 35w x 4 is already 140W burned for just front and rear work lights. Now add in 120w more for your high beams, 42w more for those "side lights" and you're already up to 302w. This doesn't take into account tail lamps, front parking lights, four way flashers, front / rear wipers, fan blower, a/c clutch, diesel fuel pump, fuel injectors, PCM, instrument cluster, stereo, etc.

There are several "plug and play" LED H3 bulbs available. However, I get the sense these really aren't necessarily "brighter" but rather just the more modern and intense white / bluish light. I don't care about that, I want more actual light.

I'll probably gamble on a set of Amazon specials, but I'm inclined to think these work lights will never be that bright as stock, even with a bulb upgrade.

Junk the whole Kubota housing and mount a pair of LED's of your choice. They will produce significantly more light using less power. I've used this form factor on my tractor (L4740 cab) and very happy with the light output.

Actually, I may have found a solution - an HID conversion for H3 bulbs. Diode Dynamics offers the kit - includes the bulbs and ballasts - for $150. Light output is 3200 lumens, compared to the 400 or less the stock H3's generate.

The question is whether the slightly longer bulb can fit in the Kubota housing, and where to hide the ballasts. If it works, it would provide excellent light output with a modern cool white color yet retain the stock light fixtures.

I did led light bars front and back on mine. Total draw is less than 15 amps so no rewiring needed and was a very easy install with only very minor fabwork needed.

Looks great. I guess I'm a purist and want to retain the stock fixtures.

I put 4 cheep LED lights on my Grand L. Light wise they work great. Only problem I have is when I turn on my LED lights I lose my radio. After a lot of research, I found that some of the cheep LED's have a lot of RF frequency static. That results in radio interference. So now I have to make the call if I want light or sound.

Mine wipe out the radio also. Now I just stream Pandora.

I ordered the H3 HID lights and ballasts. Hopefully they fit in the housings.
