Hi,

I have an old Kubota G1700 mower that ran fine at the end of summer but now won't crank the engine. I worry that it may be a safety switch but it appears that the one under the seat works, the one that ensures the brake is pressed works and the PTO is off and that switch too works (are there any more?)

When I turn the ignition I get the oil and fule lamp and when I turn it again the glow plugs light lights up then goes off. At this point I hear clicking from under the seat which is the electric fuel pump. I also hear the fuel solenoid click.

However when I turn to the third notch I get nothing. Just dead.

Battery is reading 12v.

I am thinking that I may be missing another safety switch somewhere. The deck is down - would that cause an issue as I can only raise it with the lever when the engine is on as it is hydraulic.

Any help will be really appreciated.

Reading a 12volt battery is misleading......12 volts really is not what drives the starter.
IF you got clicking - then battery is trying. AMPS are what gets the job done. POOR connections will make it look like a bad battery - and you MIGHT have just that - a bad battery. PULL out and take to local shop - have it tested. While at it do this:

Take neg post of battery - take pos off, look where the wire connects to the frame or engine, remove that - clean all of these connection, light sandpaper...etc. As you have the wires off - look carefully at the wire UNDER the insulation, there can be huge problems there.....replace neg post last.

hit key? anything change?
