Hello, for approx the same amount of money I can buy new Kubota EK1-261 (made in India by Escorts-Kubota=Farmtrac 26) 26 HP tractor or used L3200 from year 2007 (32 HP). with 600 working hours on it. L3200 looks much more hefty and serious kind of tractor but you never know its history if you buy used. On the other hand, EK1 is totally new and I didn`t hear people complain much. What would you people choose?

I'd normally say a new machine with warranty is good buying for a similar price.

But I'd have reservations on that machine. It's not a true Kubota - it has a Mitsubishi motor, and it doesn't look to have much if any parts interchangeability. Kubota will no doubt back it, but it's not going to have the parts availability of a standard Kubota model.

An L3200 is way bigger. 600 hours on it is very little, so even though it's 17 years old, it's by no means worn out.

What are the tasks you're looking to undertake?

Hi Paul, thanks for the reply. I plan to do all kind of small farm work. Plowing, tilling a garden for personal use, mowing tall grass with mulcher, winching some timber. All on the small scale. I have Kubota B1402 at the moment, which is 19 HP tractor. I had it for 3 years and I find it great but little too weak for some of the tasks, so I want to make an upgrade. With Kubota EK1-261 I am not sure the upgrade would be felt in its fullness.

If you have a B1402, and you want a bit more, I think the L is the choice.

For the mowing - are you looking at a rotary cutter / bush hog? An L will run one of them much better.

Hi, I have rotary cutter and with the tall grass I need to run B1402 in slow low 1st gear, otherwise it suffocates. Its slow as a snail that way. And the worst it is when the grass is uneven in the field, at places it is strong and at places it is weaker, and then I have to change the gears every so often. So it is frustrating. I hope to solve this with L3200.
