I have gravely mower with a d902 engine and it’s very hard to start and when it does it pours white smoke out. I’ve changed glow plugs and still same thing. I cycle twice and no change. Any info on what could be going on? Thanks

Fuel is not being burned ..........

DO you know the glow plugs are working? You wiring to them is correct? Is there a glow indicator inline with that circuit?

When did this start? Give us some more background details

There is only one wire going to the plugs and it’s in the middle. There is a light on dash that comes on and goes off in maybe 2 or 3 seconds. I’m not too familiar with diesels but do work on mowers daily. Is there possibly a fuel pressure regulator that could be going bad? Any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks

Put a voltmeter on each glow plug when activating it. It should read about ten volts, not twelve. If they get power they should be heating making starting easier. If they don't get power that could be part of yoru problem. White smoke is common with a cold diesel. It should go away as the engine warms. If not you may be getting water into your combustion chamber.

Seems like when it does crank and run that it would be easier to crank after sittin* 10 or 15 mins but it’s just as hard to start and smokes!
