Hello everyone,
I am just about to buy a kubota b7001.
The tractor looks very very good according to a friend of mine who seen it today. I cannot see it right now because I am in UK and the tractor is in Italy. Now, the problem is that my friend (he's not a specialist) couldn't spot the serial number on the clutch case, it seems to be scratched with the intention to hide it.Not even the owner cannot explain why it's like that, he says he bought it like that many years ago and had no problem regarding that... that;s something which worries me (I think it was stolen back in the days) even if he has some documents from local authorities showing some serial number from rear hitch which is nothing to do with the tractor s/n. He says that I should not be worried, he will export it for me...Now I want to ask you guys if there is any other places on the tractor where the serial number can be seen again apart of clutch case, any idea please?
Another thing he says that the tractor is equipped with water pump, and I have read somewhere on this forum that b7001 comes with termosyphon?

thanks a lot for reading any help will be very appreciated

thanks for the quick reply, Ismurphy.
I have to look in person for that when I go there...don't know if they have cameras everywhere there but why would anybody destroy the serial number of a chassis?

I was suggesting that the guy send you pictures and then you could post pictures and then maybe we could all take a shot at what happened.

I assume you all have to register your tractors there....? We don't here.
If the seller came about it honestly I would not worry about it, if he is dishonest I would not buy from him, you'll have to discern that.

How sure are you that it is a B7001 to start with?
The serial number would have been stamped on the ID label which is riveted to the side of the transmission tunnel just adjecent to the operators inner left side ankle, but also stamped into the steel of the tunnel aswell.

certain features on the tractor will ensure you ID the machine you have correctly, just because it may have decals that say 7001, that doesnt mean it is.
The 7001 which is a "JDM version" differs in many areas to those on the B-7100, and also has certain safety fittments ommitted from it, such as the interlock switch on the clutch pedal, certain PTO guards ommitted also along with numerous other differing parts .
7001 does not have the one-way coupling inside the gearbox/backaxle on the PTO output shaft which prevents damage to the shaft and gearbox etc in the event that the shaft was forced in the opposite direction when using an implement etc.
On the water pump question, some 7001 may have been fittted with the D-750 engine with pressurized cooling system with a pump, but most did not.
similar situation as the B7100, most 7100 's destined for the US market dont have the water pump version engine but in the UK most of them do.

Machines fitted with the water pump version engine also run a different electrical charging setup, the dynamo or alternator is mounted differently and there are extra brackets/parts and fitments involved which would not be found on the thermo model, also leads into differing radiator hoses and smaller radiator inlet/outlet etc, and the list goes on .

Great machine and well worth owning ( had one myself) Works just the same as a B7100 but its not a B7100 and dont be fooled into thinking they are one of the same machine.
First hand experience on both machines right down to the last nut and bolt gives me this insight.
just my input of course.....

pics would be a great help.

Lol, I thought you meant CCTV...
The seller is honest, I spoke a lot with him on the phone, he bought it for a project (orchard) but he gave up the idea, he doesn't really want to sell it but because he's not using it he's thinking to let it go, anyways I would still want to have the things in order, cannot imagine I could buy something and knowing it was stolen...

Rob,
Thanks for the infos mate,
He says definedly it is a b7001 and it's fitted with a water pump, I have some pictures taken by my mate and sent through wathsapp so they are not in a good quality. the stickers seem to be the original ones and the paint as well...unfortunately I don't have any pics showing the serial number stamped on the frame (or what was left of it after destroying it)

There is no water pump on that 7001.

I'd love to have that mirror though.

Both systems work well and are tried and tested on these small compacts.
water pumper probably the better of the two setups but more costly in terms of maintainance and more parts to wear out, swings and roundabouts at the end of the day though.
I wouldnt personally let it influence your descision as it wont effect the tractors performance unless its not working correctly.

go on, get your wallet out....:D;)
