I must have a black cloud following me these days. In addition to primary care of the MIL & FIL, and keeping their old crappy house & car going, I had the upper radiator tank on my truck let go on a trip to my place up north. (and a visit with my little orange buddy) Bad enough normally, but it was just as I reached a road block on I-17 northbound for a wildfire. 107 degrees, 2pm, 18+ mile parking lot style backup that the tow truck had to get through to reach me. It was 8:30 pm before he reached me, & 11:30 pm before I got home. My mechanic out of town for 5 days before he got started.
A few days later, wife had a catastrophic tire failure on the car, so a rescue & tire change in the heat, then on to get new tire & re-install.
Started driving my Rhino (with no AC) while the truck was being repaired, and had a rear CV joint explode; was able to limp home. Had a complete rear axle assembly someone had given me as a spare, so I attempted to disassemble it to inspect & re-grease the CVs, but, after two days of trying, I gave up on the normally 2 minute job of breaking the CV down.
I then ordered 2 new, heavy duty rear axle assemblies from a fleebay dealer. One was wrapped in plastic, in a styrofoam clamshell, in a cardboard sleeve, in a cardboard box. It arrived in perfect condition. The other was thrown loose in a cardboard box, no other packaging- it arrived with the box broken into three pieces, with a boot clamp knocked off, and the dust shield bent & knocked off the CV. I complained, & sent pics, & they agreed to send another one.
Which they did, shipped exactly the same way as the damaged one, which arrived damaged exactly the same way as the first one. What the hell is wrong with people? They said they'd refund the money for the bad axle, but as yet have not done so.
Almost afraid to leave the house these days, but hoping like hell we can make the trip to
"1st Annual OTT, PNW, BBQ and Kubota Games", then on to the rest of our vacation trip. I really need the break.
Snivel mode off, thanks for letting me vent.
