I bought a new BX2370 and tried out the belly mower yesterday. The grass was not overly tall, but it was time to mow. It did have some dead stuff on it from last week. Is it normal for it to bog down the engine? It was really noticeable it high range going flat out, however it would do it in low range a little bit also. On the average I would loose 500-700 rpm. Also when I started it had roughly 3/4 tank of fuel and in 3 hours it was empty? Another issue is if I would raise the deck and put it back down to mow another pass my height adjustment would change on me. Is that normal?
I would say - NO that is not normal at all, I have the exact same model and mine will kick out heavy grass without any moaning.
Cutting in high range would place more work on the engine, but depending on the type of grass, height of grass and rate of travel - that machine should do it very well. What height you cutting? Anything under the deck? Like some old twine, string that kinda stuff?
WHAT rpm you cutting in, what you describe should be cutting at 2500-3000 rpms - makes a hugggge difference on this machine where the throttle is placed. Blade was designed to cut at 2800-3000 rpms.
HAVE YOU GREASED the spindles on the deck???? I have found that from factory - the amount of grease in the spindles is not enough. AND it will take a good bit to fill 'em. SPIN them by hand - you should be able to turn all three blades without a lot of effort - feel for any type of "drag"
Was it empty on the gauge? OR was it empty b/c you filled it up? Gauges on those machines are almost useless. IF I sit just right - it will light up full then got down 4 bars on the gauge!
How many hours on machine? It is NOT brand new is it? Like - have you got your 50 hours in yet?
