My Brothers and sister,, a very Happy 4th of July, let us not forget those that fought and died to give us this day of freedom
"In 1995 Vietnam released its official estimate of the number of people killed during the Vietnam War: as many as 2,000,000 civilians on both sides and some 1,100,000 North Vietnamese and Viet Cong fighters. The U.S. military has estimated that between 200,000 and 250,000 South Vietnamese soldiers died. The Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Washington, D.C., lists more than 58,300 names of members of the U.S. armed forces who were killed or went missing in action. Among other countries that fought for South Vietnam, South Korea had more than 4,000 dead, Thailand about 350, Australia more than 500, and New Zealand some three dozen. "

I knew 3 from HS, plus a pilot POW. I wore his bracelet for 2 1/2 years and watch him come off the POW
transport plane. I joined USN 1965 and served 6 years. Went in all gung ho and came out all pissed off.
sorry but I still hold a grudge that the poly-TIC-tions would not allow us to go to work at our full capabilities. I know you were a jar head and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

No my Brother I was USN. At some point, it was decided that there would be 6 companies in Camp Perry that would be trained by, Army or Marine DI's. This was an experimental program ,someone thought would be good idea to train sailors some skills other than just about ships. We did run with the UDT co's and PT with them, and learned. After boot we were scattered to the 4 winds and I have only ever seen one man after. We all did what was asked of us, and like you, came out with a very bitter taste in our mouths. And life moves forward, though times and people change. One thing that will never change is our love of freedom and this wonderful country.

I ran hard and mad for a few years after, mostly with a bunch of trip wire vets. Met my wife of 44 years, moved way out built a house raised 2 kids. She tamed me, would not put up with my shit. Here I am still in love and not so mad, not so crazy. on occasion...remember those that had my back
