I have the L3901, the hydraulic output is 6.3 gpm. I want to use some skid steer attachments and these require a little more hydraulic output. I need to be in the 8 - 11 gpm range.
anyone have suggestions or what I need to do to increase my output?
Thanks in advance.

Only answer I can come up with (no - not being an ass) is to get a bigger tractor.

I am not sure it is even possible to swap out the pump for a larger one.

You are not going to increase the flow from the tractor implement pump. You will need to add an auxiliary pump and reservoir. The most common type is a PTO pump. It operates independent of the tractor's hydraulic system.

As mentioned above, you would need to buy a PTO Power Pack. Your tractor is at the bottom end (or below) of the required power to operate a power pack effectively.

You will also have a very real potential issues with the rigidity/strength of your loader operating skid steer implements (depending on what they are). Just because you can lift it, it does not mean that various forces generated by the implement will not wreck your loader.

Thanks for all this info.
I am only using a sickle mower attachment, so weight is minimum on my front end loader, it just requires a minimum of 8 gpm to operate.

Before getting too deep into the hydraulic quicksand try it with the factory hydraulics. Thats a nominal 7 GPM and you may find its acceptable.

If not you can always add a PTO pump and reservoir. It would be helpful if you provided pressure as well as flow requirements - e.g. 8 GPM @ 2000 PSI. That will determine the horsepower needed. A pretty good rule of thumb is 1 HP per GPM @1500 PSI. You have 30 PTO horsepower so you should be able to run almost double that flow @ 2000 PSI with no HP problem.

Heres a 12 GPM pump that your tractor should easily handle. You would also need a 10+ gallon reservoir, a control valve, and plumbing. I would guesstimate the price tag on that at $1000 or so.

that is exactly what I plan to do 1st. I am going to purchase the 3rd Funtion valve kit and install it. Then will “test drive” the sickle mower attachment to see if it will do what I need to do around the farm. Since I will only be cutting small limbs on fence line and grass in field, the reduced flow may not be a problem. If it doesn’t perform, then I will go the PTO pump route. No matter what, the 3rd function will be added bonus for future use.

You may find a traditional third function is not well suited to that application. Biggest concern would be heat buildup from pushing full flow through the valve for extended lengths of time.
