My brother-in-law is borrowing a friend's Kubota l3301 and it is low on hydraulic fluid. My question is can I use Xtreme 334 to top it off?

IMO - it would be better to leave it as is and tell him it is low - do NOT add anything to it!

Wow!!!! What an oil, three seasons and pre-1974. It sounds almost as useful as WD40.
Do not add to the friend's tractor. As mentioned, tell him and let him do what he wants to do. You put in the wrong fluid and you could cause a lot of damage to someone else's tractor. Ask yourself, are you willing to pay for any damages?????

My advice is: do NOT do any maintenance on someone else's tractor unless you've thoroughly discussed it with the owner. But even then, you are taking a huge risk ... if something goes wrong, all the agreements will likely be forgotten.

Have him call the owner, inform him of the condition, and ask him what he wants done.
I will add this, depending on "how low" it is, he might not want to operate it until it is topped off.
Edit: I will add that it was thoughtful of your BIL to check the fluid level though. Most people would probably just run it without checking the fluid levels.
