Kubota UDT is thinner than most generic hydraulic fluids.
You can get some generic fluids that have the same properties as UDT.
SUDT is a synthetic UDT. ;)

I don't know about thicker but the fluid from TSC will not perform like the Kubota fluid. I use it in my bobcat because it has a couple of leaks and it sux compaired to quality fluid.

I use Mystic JT5, it is made to the same standard as UDT.

As far as the universal hydraulic fluid being thinker than UDT, you probably don't see or notice much difference in the warmer areas, I really noticed a difference at -20F last winter, the universal was like syrup and the UDT was still thin and flowing. ;)
