I am looking for the operators manual for l225, year 1976 or 77? Or a manual on how to use the thing. I found the service manual but no "how to start/operate" it. Can anyone help??

Suggest you go to one armed with a USB stick and ask someone senior for help. Make it clear you are looking for the Owners manual not workshop manual. That way you are far more likely to get it for free.
