There’s a pretty good assortment of ages on this sight, those of you that remember the 10 year running TV Show Gunsmoke (1956-1965?) with Marshal Matt Dillon, Miss Kitty, Festus etc. I think there still running reruns on TV land. The film sight is near where I am wheeling in S Utah near all the parks and monuments, off Johnson Road outside Kanab Utah. Went by and took some pics, and a week later after a killer snow, hail, rain storm blew thru. D8E205CD-A5CA-4F5E-8AD3-AA95020D06F7.jpg

Here is whats left of the Long Branch Saloon. After this last storm( From early May to the end of May,) it collapsed on itself, into an unrecognizable pile of rubble.

Congratulations on getting to that beautiful area. I've spent a lot of time in the area over the years and have family ties in that area. Awesome area to do some 4WD trips!

Logged over 2,000 off road only miles here in the last few weeks. The Grand Staircase is being opened up to the public, and there’s 3,000 square miles to explore. Been to the Montezuma caves, did the suicide climb, the moss caves, found hundreds of petroglyphs, in many different locations. Drove hundreds of miles of river beds, hiked waterfalls etc. neat area. I’m up outside Bryce now. Lots more to see.

Reruns show every day at noon central time on METV over the air digital channel, followed by Bonanza. Different world back then, I watch it when I can, love that show.

That was such a great series and I still watch it today.

I used to travel to California a lot on business and on one return trip, I had time to duck into the Delta Crown Room in LA. My wife was with me on the trip so we were just relaxing when I noticed a guy walking in with his wife. He looked so familiar and it suddenly dawned on me that it was James Arness. I couldn't resist speaking to him and telling him how much I enjoyed watching Gunsmoke over the years. I'm 6'3" and weigh 200 lbs. When he shook my hand, my hand was like a childs hand being held by an adult. He was a big man and now when I watch the reruns, I always think of how big he was and how he really made his horse look small.

Both he and his wife were very pleasant to talk to and apparently lived in Arizona which is where they were headed that day.

I remember watching Gunsmoke when I was just a little kid, and they were reruns then. I was born in '71. Matt Dillon was a big hero to me and I considered him a role model. They don't make'em like that anymore.
