Hello All,
Im new to the group and have an issues with my GR2110. It seems that the mower deck speed is low and it gets bad when its under load. I have done the maintenance on it. Greased the Deck, Replace the Air and fuel filter. I added sea foam as well to clean the injectors. I did notice if i move the engagement deck handle forward it picks up more RPM. I wonder if there is an agistment that needs to be done?

Any help would be grand.

Do the engine RPM decrease, or does just the mower deck slow down?

I had a similar issue on a GR2100. If your engine rpm holds but the mower deck slows, I suspect that your PTO is failing. Check your hydraulic fluid level!

In my case, the hydraulic return hose became brittle and leaked fluid. I checked and topped off the fluid level before I started mowing but it was low after I finished. Due to the low fluid, the friction plates (power shift disks???) in the PTO began wearing out. Pushing the handle foward compresses the PTO clutch pack enabling the mower to spin near normal speed. If you look at the fluid at the transmission strainer, you'll probably see a lot of brown fibrous gunk. Hopefully you do not see bits of metal.

The PTO can be replaced without spliting the transmission. If you found metal shavings in the strainer, then you may have other internal damage.

sell it to some sucker that will pay a lot more than $500 and get something else

GR2100's are plagued with transmission issues and none of them are easy or cheap fixes.

I've found 2 or 3 locally for sale and "inexpensive"--all need transmission repair of some sort. I won't buy them, period. I'll buy a Murray before I buy a GR2100.

probably pto clutch failing which is inside the transmission. Kubota has a kit to "fix" it, or rather fix THAT problem. I don't remember the cost but it's not much fun to put in. Secondly the clutch wear material is laying in the bottom of the transmission housing and that needs to come out. Thirdly the axle bushings are often worn on the 2100's as well and if the axle seals aren't leaking yet, they will. Lastly some of them didn't have bushings at all and the axles ride directly on the transmission housing, wears the housing out, then you can replace the cases when it gets leaking.

new transmission is somewhere around $5000 last I looked, and that's been a number of years ago. I don't remember for sure but I think the clutch kit was like $480.

kind of a cool mower having 4wd but honestly if I had one (and I don't, obviously), knowing what I know of them, I'd still give it a new home.

Local dealer has one sitting on their lot. Nice looking machine. So I asked them about it. I forgot how old it is but maybe a little newer than my 2160. Anyway I almost fell over when they said they were asking $4950 for it. Then they added they'd had to install a new transmission in it. Well, it's been sitting there over a year now. Glad you're around to explain this
