Common here too. It's sold at the gas station a couple of miles from my house and all over the valley. It's pretty common around here, but I live in a rural area.
In Montana, $.54 per gallon no matter what the diesel price goes up to or down to.curious, how much do you save ?
So given that the fine is $500 for the first offense for running off-road diesel on the road, you'd need to get away with running around a 100 gallons to break even. Make it to 1,000 gallons and you're doing well.In Montana, $.54 per gallon no matter what the diesel price goes up to or down to.
Not to mention a red dyed fuel system in the truck. So given that the fine is $500 for the first offense for running off-road diesel on the road, you'd need to get away with running around a 100 gallons to break even. Make it to 1,000 gallons and you're doing well.![]()
Yup, me too. Every Fall I have them top off the tank for the furnace in the shop and the tank for the tractor. That and a healthy dose of Power Service in the tractor fuel and I'm good for a year.I run Home Heating oil
currently $2.83 a gallon delivered.
Yeah thats all fun and games until they get stopped and they dip the tanks,, then it gets expensiveMy nephew and lots of other younger folks with diesel pickups run the off road diesel here about $1. A gallon cheaper.
Saved around $.95/gal. Out by me it was 3.95/gal. $3.00 for off-road. Tank holds 50 gal so that is $50 on a fillcurious, how much do you save ?
I've never found a diesel nozzle that won't fit in the fuel filler necks of my '02 F-250 and '24 F-450. Up here the nozzles are the same size for off-road and on-road diesel. Some fuel stations that see a lot of commercial vehicles have the larger nozzles and a higher flow rate, but they work just fine.Interesting thing is the nozzle for off-road is a larger diameter than the taxed diesel. Do diesel pickups have the same restricted opening that a gas vehicle has? Now comes the fun. We had company when I got home so the tank is still in my truck. Time to warm up the orange and move it
Sounds like unreasonable search to me.I've seen troopers dipping fuel at farm sale barn. Don't know if they work off of a tip or just decide today is the day. Probably know that is the place for a lot of trucks and most farmers have access to both fuels.
