L225. Fast Slow 3pt speed knob is frozen. Any hints on best way to unfreeze it? Is there a removable something to get to the innerds to lube it? Just shoot it with an Anti seize? Or could there be a trick to using it such as 3pt must be fully down or up?

Coach,

there have been a few topics on this.........
one idea is to wrap a soft rag around it and then turn with something that has some ass,

the other thing is to "lift" up the 3 point by hand and see if it will unbind itself. A lot of people try to move it that have a MMM and the mower is placing a pinch on it. Force the 3 pt handle all the way to the top and or push it up, see if it will loosen.

Search under 3 point speed adjustment for other possible posts on the same subject.
Your going to have to take it apart and free it up, likely rusted in place from lack of use.
The WSM covers that parts removal and repair.

Here is what your looking at:

My l225 did same thing. Soaked it with PB blaster(as best as I could) then applied force via small pipe wrench. Move it just 1/4 inch , then back and forth. Worked like a charm.

My speed knob was also locked up. I did spray some penetrating oil in the valve area, but the only thing that worked was to get a pair of vice grips on the shaft and rock it back and forth. Do not torque on the plastic knob. It will just strip out and crack.

I would take the plastic knob off to prevent breakage, first. then shoot some kroil, or pb blaster into the shaft. Then put the spring pin back into the control shaft. Then take a 1/2 drive socket, and grind 2 notches into it, so it fits over the shaft, and onto the spring pin, and take an electric impact gun, and alternate, forward and back, till you get some movement in the shaft. Once you get it moving a little, try to get a little more with a breaker bar, and the same socket.:D
