Hi-

I’m looking at and thinking about purchasing an attachment for my BX quite a distance from where I live.

This got me wondering…what’s the farthest distance you’ve driven to purchase an implementor attachment and was it worth the drive?

I drove just over 3 hrs each way for the Land Pride rear blade I wanted from a different Kubota dealer. From what my local dealer said, it was going to be 6 months wait until they were being produced again. I probably could have had it freighted to me.

The way it is right now if you can find what you want, a little extra drive isn’t an issue for me. It’s that or paying freight which isn’t cheap either.

Not an implement by itself but tractor and rotary cutter was 1 hour each way. Was it worth it, yep!

4hrs round trip for a rear blade, 2hrs for my rear mower. Like driving so distance isn’t much of a bother for me. Rarely calculate it in the purchase unless it’s gonna be more than 4hrs round trip.

2 hour round trip for a set of forks. Worth it.

Did drive a 12 hour round trip in one day to pick up a used 4 wheeler from a couple of guys so far back in the mountains the sun don’t shine there. That wasn’t tractor specific so I guess it doesn’t count. But it was worth it.

When I bought my IMD generator I had the option to make a 4 hour drive to their shop in South Carolina to pick it up. The savings v drop shipping to a freight terminal near my home was less than the cost of gas to go get it myself so I didn’t make the drive. Time wise if it’s a good price on what I want I wouldn’t start caring about drive time until it required an overnight stop.

Picking up equipment for me usually turn into a road trip and I spend more money on meals, side of the road stands and as long as I'm pulling a trailer, I might as well buy extra stuff to put on it. The money I "saved" usually cost me a lot more, especially if it's a used piece of equipment that needs that needs to be rebuilt (it always cost more than you think).

I drove a couple hours for a used disc. But it's Northern Michigan... A couple hours is nothing.
My brother drove from Michigan to Colorado for a front snowblower... He and his buddy just jumped in the truck and I think drove a day out, a day to pick it up and a day back...

On a side note; what's the furthest you've driven your tractor!

I'll open the bidding at 10.5 miles, worked all day then 10.5 miles home again

If it is something you want/need and the price is right,, does it really matter?

Well, this was years and years ago (like, 20... holy crap I'm getting old), but my dad borrowed a friends 5 yd loader to prepare a site for a pole barn. Man, that thing was awesome for firewood and everything. Anyway, without any suitable trailer, only way to get it there was to drive it.. Roughly 30-35 miles, it's looking like.
I won't claim any sort of prize, seeing as it wasn't my tractor and it also wasn't me (my brother and my dad)... But I thought it was noteworthy.

5 miles out. 5 miles back. Much more and it would be on the trailer.

I've done 2.5 hours each way to pick up a chipper that was totally worth it for the price, even including the gas it took to get there dragging a trailer.

Wasn't my tractor but I drove a 3588 pulling a liquid manure spreader from Toronto SD to about 10 miles North of Wheaton MN. Probably over 100 miles. Took a wrong turn down a dead end and had to back it up a half mile.

Sounds like a likely winner.

Well, I now know the limit as to how far I’m willing to drive to pick up an attachment. Drove from central MA to Wenger’s in Myerstown, PA yesterday to grab the new (to me) plow for my 1860. Quite an adventure, and a long day, but hopefully worth it come this winter.

Its been twenty plus years ago but I drove a JD low hour 4240 hundred and fifty miles from a farm sale home. Didn't want to leave it at a sale sight that far from home so we drove it home that day and into the night. Just made a three hundred mile trailer trip to pickup a new MX-6000 last week.

Drove my old compact tractor home from the dealer about 22 KM... Drove it another 16 KM from the old farm to the lake place...

Drove 800 KM one way to pick up a MMM deck for my old compact tractor.. We made a kind of mini vacation of it...

New compact tractor has never been off this farm since we moved here.. However it is about 2 KM from the barn to the far end of our bush...

I drove over 1600 miles round trip to buy my L45, saved 3k over the next best price. If it is worth it, go get it. Turned it into a mini vacation and enjoyed the trip.
