what engines will fit a L 3600? don't care about horsepower so much, a little more or less than factory hp is fine, what motors will bolt up to transmission, etc without too much fab work? Would like to stay kubota in mfg if possible. options anyone swapped out a motor?

Why replace it? Beyond rebuild?

V1903 are not that hard to find.
You could use a V2203 just make sure you get the right version.
Swapping out to any other brand of engine would be insane!

It's got a 2 inch hole in the outer cylinder wall. Please if you will give me the goods/info on what I should look for and how to know so I won't get a motor that won't work. BTW Thanks for the help

All the info you are looking for can be found by following my current engine swap on an L2850. I just ordered a V2203DI to replace the V1702DI that has a broken crankshaft. Once I get the engine hopefully in a couple weeks will get a new thread started detailing the swap.
Hope the info in my thread will help out and keep Wolfman from having to repeat himself so much lol.

Good machine shop should be able to sleeve it and it'd be usable again I would think? Or is the hole all the way through the exterior of the block?

EPA doesn't want any of the old engines in service anymore, and sooner or later they'll be harder and harder to find.

I'm ready to find a motor. Looking on eBay there are several v2203 types on there. I'm really confused now on which ones fit the kubota tractor I have? any advise so I don't throw away a heap of money on a motor that won't fit?

You want an older version V2203 DI (Direct Injection) engine, (all the injector line run over the intake), a new version will work too (2 injection lines go over 2 go under), but the injector lines, valve cover, and various other little parts will not swap if you need them to.
You do not want a V2203 IDI (Indirect Injection). ;)
