This article should help you:

http://www.orangetractortalks.com/2008/11/how-to-bleed-kubota-fuelinjector-lines/

I assume that you ran out of fuel? Just make sure that you bleed the lines all the way through to the top of the injector. I loosen the nuts at the top of the injector completely and then watch for good flow from each line --- when I have good flow, I tighten the nuts back up --- it should then start for you.

Then start checking all the fuel lines until you find the one that's blocked --- start with the line that feeds the fuel filter from the tank and work your way forward.

Do you know for sure that you ran out of fuel??

The fuel pump should feed the injection pump --- do you have good flow to the injection pump???

What were you doing when it stopped running?? And --- how did it stop?? Cough, sputter, any smoke? You have an electirc fuel pump -- yes?? I don't know for sure. Take the fuel supply line off at the injector pump and see if you have good fuel flow to your injection pump. If not, I would suspect your fuel pump.

All a diesel needs to run, assuming it has good compression, is fuel and air. Check your air filter???

To your other question --- no special skill required. You have one fuel line from the filter to the fuel pump and then one fuel line from the fuel pump to the injection pump. You have three lines from the injection pump to the three injectors. Simple as loosening and tightening a nut.

On an L3400 the fill port for hydraulic fluid is just behind the seat but you won't see any fluid there. There is a sight glass on the LH side of the "hump" on the operator floor. Fluid level, while parked dead level, should be about halfway up the glass.

The advice given on your fuel problem is good and there's not much I can add. You didn't say how old your tractor was but I'd shine a light into the fuel tank and see if you have crud in the bottom, first thing. It is more likely you have sucked crud into the lines than it is to have the pump fail.

I assume you purchased the tractor used and didn't get any manuals. The most basic and one that would be of great help would be:

Operators Manual, Kubota Tractor, L2800/L3400/L3700SU.

This 75 page manual ships with the tractor and contains all the basics. It is not a repair or parts manual. It does however give you clear information with pictures regarding general maintenance and operation. Lack of maintenance is the cause of most failures. You should be able to get one from Kubota for a nominal cost?

Best of Luck
