Choosing right for tilling

We have about 3 arable acres and have been planting cedars in pots. I'm considering just putting the rest in the ground. Land hasn't been worked up in 100 years is my understanding and had a horse on it for 20 years. Normal smallish rocks and decent topsoil layer, pretty basic. Considering a small attachment for my B2601 to work up narrow rows to plant the small cedars in and keep the centers firm and grassy. Is there an appropriate implement that would give me a decent finished row?

Watched a JD video with a 2025, looked similar to the B2601, with a middle buster. I'd have to work the soil a bit after that still for sure. Would definitely cut a groove, though.

If you are planting cedar plugs you will find it easier to do by hand with a ditching spade. If in larger pots you could try an auger. Personally I'd only bother planting bare root cedars.

I'd run a subsoiler to create the rows and 'open up' the soil. Maybe leave a week then run a 'middle buster' or 1 furrow plow to prep for the trees. The 'fun' is deciding what spacing the rows will be.if you go too narrow it's harder for them to grow and harvest.

Might be just wide enough to run the 2601 with some narrow wheels down it but maybe would go a little tighter and just run a commercial lawnmower instead. Our standard has always been 5 feet but if I can squeeze one extra row in its worth it.
