So, got one of those dreaded calls from my wife  A/C is acting up in her car. Judging from her description it sounded like the compressor was going out, or it was low on freon.

So, on my way home, I pick up a can of freon with the gauges, pretty much killed $50. Hook the gauges up to her car, and everything checks out good

So then she makes the comment that her floor boards on the passenger side was wet. So, I call the mechanics shop I use, make an appointment to get the car checked.

Got to thinking about it on my way in to work with her car. Had one of those head slapper moments. The condensation drain!!!!! So, I Google the location of the drain. Apparently it's location is a better kept secret then the Clinton emails :p finally start pulling off panels and find the drain. It was actually inside the car and drained through the floor board, and not through the firewall like I was expecting.

So, I clean the drain with a coat hanger. Got about a gallon of water out of it. Checked the ac and it seemed to be doing better. So...... I go to lunch. It's 100 degrees out today. Turn the ac on high, and 2 minutes down the road, the cars nice and comfy  Called the mechanic and canceled the appointment :D

When I described the issue, he said it sounded like the ac clutch, since it's a fairly common issue with the Mazda 3. Clutch retailed for $380, and estimated around $800 total because of the location

Daren - the number of times we've all had that head slap moment!

Of course, up here heating/cooling problems and wet floors usually mean bad heater core - they get lots of work!:(

Reminds me of the Troubleshooting Guides they put on washers and dryers-

1. Is it plugged in?
2. Is the breaker thrown?
3. Is there power at your house?

I had an REALLY old snowblower. B&S engine always ran like a top. One Fall, did service, etc. and went to start it - nothing. Swore at it, gas in the plug hole. Nothing. No spark - dammit. New plug. Nothing. Swore at that bytch for 15 minutes.

Damn switch was off.......Started next pull.:eek:

And for any of you guys out there saying you never had a similar thing happen - you are either lying, or you need to spend more time outdoors!:):)

Good for you!

My son couldnt start my three pull snowblower. I asked if he turned key on. He gave me that "do i look like an idiot look " and said it was on. Idiot.
1 pull.

Compressor went out in my truck. Sucks on days like today. 80 plus degrees and real high humidity.

Had the same issue with my f150. Bandaid it with a can of freon with stop leak in it to get me through the heat waves for a couple years. Then had a heat wave come though where it was 120 for a month  Ended up sucking it up after the first week and put the truck into the shop. New compressor and evaporator.

80 degrees outside is window down weather around here and enjoying the cool breeze :p:p
