Wife entered a drawing and won this Stihl 271 chainsaw yesterday, we have to drive 2 hours to go pick it up though. Will probably do that tomorrow or the next day. We already have a echo 370 with 16" bar that I love. This saw is a little bigger than that.

Nice saw - might find the stihl has a little more ump than the echo. Stihl has about 40% more cc's - I think you will love the drive and the saw!
Yes it is a bigger saw. My echo has a 16 inch bar, can handle up to 18. The stihl has a 18 or 20, not sure yet. I think 20 inch bar. The echo has been great, and will still be my primary saw, it is lighter than the stihl.Congrats!!!

Nice saw, my son-inlaw has two 270 woodboss saws. 271 is 3.49 bhp, up here we run 16'' on them for cutting hardwood for the wood furnace, we run 18" on the 362 4.6 bhp to cut for my wood boiler.

Helo - If it comes with a 16 or 18, I wouldn’t recommend going to a 20, if it’s in your thoughts.
Damned if I remember all the saw chain measurements anymore, but the 16 and 18’s often have a smaller kerf which is good for that saw.
Bought my Dad a 290 several years ago, so he had a smaller saw at 70 years old.
Came with an 18; I wanted a 20, because that’s what he was used to on his 056 Super. Kept the 18, and it was a wise choice.
I run an 046 Magnum with a 20 or 24”, or my new-to-me favorite MS211 with a 16”.
I’m older now, too....[emoji12]

Well wife got back from the 4 hour round trip to pick it up. It came with a bag full of protective gear. Glasses, helmet, and bibs/chaps. It does have the 20" bar on it. Runs good, but did not use it to cut anything yet.

Echo has been great. Cut down lots of trees with it. Clearing around my 1 acre pond, lots of sweetgum, and pine. Only a 16 inch bar, but does everything I need it to. Had it for 7 years now and never a issue. Needs a new bar and chain right now though.
