Your chains need to be long enough to attach to the trailer.
Too long of chains are better than too short. ;)

& make sure you got a a heavy enough chain for the job!

not one of those $5 walmart chains! get real load rated chain!

For my two tractors I use the appropriate size chains but at my age find 20 foot lengths too cumbersome and not necessary so I have cut them all to 10' lengths and added grade 70 hooks to the new ends. Easy peasy and half the weight!

To each there own. It is great being able to see them, but if they do come loose I don't want to be on the traffic side tightening binders up. So I prefer passenger side.

A regional company here, Tacoma Screw, sells 16'ers. Put the binders on the driver side so you can check them in your mirror.

Some states require a binder on each corner and one for each attachment (loader, backhoe, disc, etc.). I myself only use 2 binders and one on any pull type equipment hooked to the tractor.

I use 10K ratchet straps myself. Chains are stronger but I never had a problem with the straps. Just have to make sure they aren't rubbing anything that will cut them.

The length is up to you. As others stated 5/16 grade 70 is rated 5400lbs which is more than enough. You can get small ratchet binders that are rated for 5400WLL which is working load limit. You might get by with 1/4" just have to check the weight rating of chain and binder. If you look at agri supply on line they normally beat tractor supply and others prices. Also as others said check with you local dmv NC wants all 4 corners tied and a chain across any attachment.

Straps don't hold up near as good as I figured they would. I almost cut one that was over my disc on a short 8 mile trip. I now put the strap through or over a piece of fire hose where they go over an edge.

It depends on where they come from. I've had some that were really good and some that didn't last a month.

You should look at getting some axle straps for securing your implements. I have a couple sets from Northern tool that I've been using for over 10 years. I hauled my v-rake almost 200 miles when I bought it and didn't have any problem with them.

I plan on using axle straps and ratchet straps with my L2501.

For my L4600 I use chain and binder for front of tractor same for rear and ratchet straps across loader and any implement I have on tractor.

This setup works nice for me, many ways to do it but this is my preference.

I bought two 3/8" x 14' chains for $19.99 each at Harbor Freight a couple of weeks ago. They were on sale...regular $39.99. Included 3/8" hooks on both ends.

I use a huge chain in the rear, then move tractor fwd a bit on trailer to tighten it up, then a heavy duty ratchet strap up front.

I just bought a package to chain my 2650 for transport. What would happen if you were in an accident? You or someone else could get hurt, or even worse, you might damage your tractor. :D
