Hello Fellow Team Orange,
I wanted to get some thoughts around alternative sheer pins or soft bolts for the impeller for a BX2816 snow blower that I use for BX23s. One of the bolts is not a sheer pin but rather a G5 soft bolt. Kubota has a replacement for 17-19 USD, which I feel is just out of control pricing. I located this part for a new holland that is 1/3 the cost but it does NOT have threads that go along the whole shaft of the bolt. They are both the same size and grade 5. Is it possible to get away with using this type of replacement from new holland?

10 bolts, washers, nuts and Allen wrench for for $17-19 is quite a reasonable price. That’s $1.70-1.90 each. The other bolt you posted a picture of is $4.97 each.

On my BX2750D blower (late model), the GR5 fan shear bolts have about 1/4" solid shaft below the head before the threads start. Similar to the picture you post from New Holland. When one looks at the shear planes of the fan, the "shear plane" is just about where the threads start. I use standard hardware store GR5 1-1/4" long 1/4" bolts with no issues, they are identical, in my case, as the Kubota ones. Your blower and fan design may be slightly different however...

EDIT: The Kubota part for the fan shear pin use a separate Nylock nut part number, I just use a regular lock washer and nut. The BX2750D shear bolt part number is the same as the picture, 70060-01075. Again, yours may vary.... That said, most of the BX series of snowblowers are made by the same manufacturer, just different variations.

That's 17 dollars for 1. The photo they have online is deceptive.

First of the year the same kit was $14.55

This kit ( 77700-11443) is for 10 sets...

But you waited too long price went up.
