new to group, first post - new (used) BX2660 - I am definitely in love with this tractor and should have bought one ten years ago - it works fantastic, for me but when my wife wants to mow she has difficulty keeping it from stalling - almost like there is a weight issue for the the seat - I weigh 240 and she 128 -- cant find anything other than a mention of the operator presence control system in the manual

I dont know how I could search for existing threads with this title

Her weight is the problem:D:)......does she sit on the front edge of seat? If so the safety switch is not engaged! The seat will slide forward and back too. Move it forward and see if it changes. Check to see if switch under has been bent or anything like that too.

Pretty much what Hokie said, my grand daughter has to sit back in the seat to keep ours running; only thing I can think of tht would cause it.

The exact adjustment might depend on the model tractor. Some of the newer ones have two safety switches associated with the seat. On mine it was the one INSIDE the seat that caused those problems, my 133 lbs wasn't enough to keep it running especially when it was cold and the plastic was stiff. My dealer fixed it with a piece of cardboard, but you have to take seat apart to get to it. The free online Kubota parts diagrams might tell you if you have that kind ( or call your dealer if it is new).

133 lbs...that was like when I was 7 yrs old..maybe 6. I put a zip tie on my seat switch. So when I use my chipper the pto would stay running.

thanks guys for responding-- looks like I am going to need to dig a little deeper and perhaps check out the parts diagrams - everything seems in place like it should - the seat moves freely forward and backward and when it is all the way forward and she sits back in the seat, she still cant move without stalling; I sit on it when it is all the forward and no problem - I see what appears to be the wire and connection but dont see anything that looks like a switch connection I could shove the cardboard in between -- I told her the tractor just doesn't like her, but I'll keep trying

Oh I see now the cardboard fix you are referring to is inside the seat itself - I will check degree of difficulty - thanks again

I assume she is letting the tractor warm up goo before using it? My B7100 has to run for 5 min or more in cooler weather before it will mow. Otherwise it will mow for about 10 feet and die.

I sorta have a similar problem. If I look over my right shoulder to make sure the mower is going to clear whatever tree Im going around, the tractor will want to shut off until I sit upright again. Very irritating.

My one sister had the same problem. My brother in lay bought a JD to cut grass and clear snow. When he used it to cut grass it worked fine. When my sister used it would always shut off at one spot on a slight hill. It was at the dealer four times. The last time it was there they sent a tech out to watch her cut the grass to see if it would shut off. Sure enough when she got to the right spot it shut off! The tech told her to either keep her butt in the center of the seat or put some bricks in her pockets. She was leaning on the side of the seat and the seat switch was shutting it off.
