Maybe your seat switch doesn’t recognize your in the seat?
No seat switch in that model tractor. That tractor would qualify for Social Security death benefit if it were evaluated in dog years. It was manufactured between 2004 - 2006.
We really will need a whole lot more information than a simple one-line. It could be just about anything, and the first thing is to do some diagnostics, such as removing the mower deck and then trying the PTO to see if it is an internal problem or a mower deck problem.

My BX2230 certainly has a seat switch, because I had to adjust it so it didn't kill the engine if I shifted forward in the seat. Why all the disrespect for our older tractors? Not everyone can afford or even wants a shiny new tractor.

It isn't disrespecting your older tractor. It is called adding humor to the post.
