Buying a 2016 M7040

Looking at buying a 2016 M7040. When I look up specs for the M7040, every source indicates it was only manufactured 2007-2013. The dealer offering it for sale insists that it is a 2016. Is there something about Kubota models and years of manufacture I don't understand?

The 7060 which replaced the 7040 came out in 2013 so how likely is it that a 7040 made in 2016 exists? Could it have sat on a lot for 3 years? Doubtful, but some dealers classify tractors by the year they were sold new rather than the year in which they were made. I guess since we don't register and title tractors there isn't DMV oversight, where the year of manufacture is important and shows up on the title. Regardless, I'd find another dealer since this one seems very dubious.

T4 Final was 2014, so I do not think Kubota could have manufactured a 7040 after that time. To be sure have them take a picture of the serial # and send it to you. You can call Kubota and verify. https://www.kubotausa.com/contact/faq/what-year-was-my-kubota-manufactured

I seem to remember seeing a narrow version of a 7040 and I think it was newer than 2013, this was in Canada…. Or was it an SU model designator, not sure what that was but that’s what’s coming to mind for what it’s worth!

This one is in Canada and is an M7040 SUHD.

Some Internet scrounging looks like that model is a basic no frills machine. Being a tier 3 with no dpf, that alone makes it a good deal! I see one listed on Kijiji.... there seems to be newer than 2013 SU models in other parts of the world, maybe there was a weird loophole to bring that one to Canada...

Perhaps the secret is to tell us if the 7040 SUDT you are considering uses a DPF.
If yes: Then it is 2014 or later.
If no: Then it is likely a 2016 mfgd. for sale in countries other than USA.
Did Canada require Tier IV the same year as USA?
