I took delivery of a L2501 and moved it in my garage. Today I backed out for the first time and to my surprise the right front tie rod fell off were the tie rod end is secured to the steering knuckle part of the front axle. (sorry for poor nomenclature). No damage to the threads of the tie rod end or any part as far as I can tell.

I would assume that the castle nut and cotter key was never installed.

The dealer will be calling back in the morning.

A few questions I would like to know before chatting with the service manager.

Would the tie rod ends be attached at the factory or would they be attached durning final dealer assembly?

Any one know with certainty the metric size and thread pitch of the castle nut?

That drive assembly is installed at the dealership so they are responsible for not attaching it properly. Kubota ship them with that assemble off so they fit on a narrower crate and more tractors can be shipped in a container.

after looking at things a bit closer I also wonder about if this center linkage is installed correctly .
to me it appears that plenty of splines are left and the large nut shows internal threads, meaning the shaft is recessed into the nut. I am used to when a part is engineered that the shaft would extend past the nut to take in the full strength of the available threads.

Possible that a L2501 owner could compare?

I got KUBOTA Part # TC402-62750 NUT, SLOTTED, but did not see any description for size/pitch.

I'm betting metric and wish I could help further.

I would politely tell the dealership OWNER that you want the entire tractor checked...as if they just got it and that they need to do it now...

If that was done incorrectly, who knows what else is not correct....fluids, etc...

Not a 2501, but pretty close to the same.

Shaft is recessed in the nut too. Might be that way to keep dirt/debris off the end of the shaft if it needs serviced?

Makes me wonder about if the toe in was set correctly for sure.
And good advice!

About 50% of our L's come assembled, just fire them up and drive out of the trailer.

I think that's only for those close to the GA Plant, all of them up here show up in crates / containers.

The dealers service tech came to my location this afternoon. Took care of the tie rod end. Double checked and set toe in. Greased all zirks , re routed the third function hydraulic lines that were too low and did a general walk around and check, fluids included.

Prompt and professional after the sale service.

Ps, confirmed this tractor had the right side axle final drive assembled at the dealership.
