Boom or Boomless

I am buying a Fimco 60ga 3pt PTO pump sprayer for my lx3310 but can’t decide between boom and boomless. I have 4 use cases woodland trails, a 5 acre pasture, various gravel roads/parking areas, and large lawn.

I was thinking boomed, because with Pimco it looks like a could just turn off the boom nozzles on the "wings" (or add an off valve at the start of the booms) and fold back to run "boomless" on the trails, but then still use the boom for the pasture. But not sure if it would actually work that way.

Your recommendations?

I don't believe that there is a "one-size-fits-all" answer to your situation. For me it is boomless because I would hang whatever and rip one side off. If I folded it up for my trails, I would then have an "overhead" problem and still rip something off.

I have the Fimco 25 gallon boomed sprayer I use on my 4 wheeler. I typically shut off the right side and fold in that boom. I spray using the middle and left boom 95% of the time.

It works well, not spraying 5 acres but I do spray 3 acres of food plots so not much less.

The height is adjustable so I keep it low to prevent drift.

I like the booms, when I go down paths I fold in both and only use the middle, again works well.

When I first got mine I filled with water and sprayed the road to see how the pattern looked at different heights and for coverage. Kind of a calibration!

I keep empty chemical containers that I have rinsed to carry water in to my deer lease. I only put clean water in them, works nice 2.5 gallons each. easy to lift and I can carry them on my 4-wheeler in a box on the front to add to tank when needed. I also carry bottles of chemical that are marked so I can add as well.

I have a spray nozzle that is located in the rear/center. When I shut the nozzle off I can then use the wand to spot and squirt something that may be beyond the spray pattern. Works for me.

I do pretty much the same as Magicman. I have a 300 gallon spray with the spray nozzle mounted in the center. It has 5 outlet nozzles. Also have a 25' hose I can stop and saturate one area if needed. I use the setup for spraying liquid fertilizer, 2-4-D, Tordon, Remedy on about 25 acres

I use a 60 gal skid sprayer with a folding boom on the back of a Polaris Ranger, I like the boom it sprays a very even pattern. Boom is spring loaded and is easy to use in tight places. Sprays well on a windy day with the boom.
