Title says it all. I ordered a new pump and also a salvaged one...just for licks. Maybe I can rebuild one from the 2. But, being a 32 year old machine, does anyone have any advice or links to this job. I am a bit of a novice who has a friend on speed dial who can do most anything, but rather have the satisfaction of getting it done myself. ....with a help of a video ;-0. A wise man learns from the mistakes of others
Thanks

Replace the thermostat at the same time.

Replaced the pump on my 7200 a few years back. No noise but blade seemed to be wobbling. Checked and shaft had tons of side play. Easy to replace. Just takes some disassembly. I removed most everything forward including the rad. I periodically check mine now for play.

I heard a sound like raspy foil coming fromt he front of the motor. very sudden actually. I shut it down and the fan/shaft are wobbly. Im assuming it is this pump causing the issue though i really dont see a leak yet
The bearings on some water pumps can wear a surprising amount before the seal leaks.

I think the 7200 is fairly similar in build. Did you need to take the radiator out or were you able to access by removing the shroud/fan?,

As I said in the post the rad was removed. I am not presently at the tractors location but I think it might be able to be done without removing the rad. This was a few years ago and I think I was flushing the rad out properly and replacing the hoses so probably decided to remove the rad. Might be difficult with the shroud in place but I think that once you start the job you will quickly determine what has to be removed.
I am still kicking myself 37 years later for not buying the 8200 instead of the 7200 as they were both the same price at the time.

If the hood hinges at the front end you will probably have to remove it and the radiator to make it easy to get the fan and pump off.

It does...so i will be removing both. Hood is easy, just had it off the repaint. The radiator...well...ill figure that out when I get there. Still looking for torque specs for the pump (if they exist}

Th radiator is probably a couple of bolts that are at the bottom of the radiator and go through some rubber mounts.

Look for bolts that have a cotter pin through the bolt just below the (castle?) nut.

You may have to remove a few parts to pull the radiator out through the top but it is really easy on my tractor. The fan probably has lock plates on the bolts
