I would like to add rear remotes to my B2620. I am new to hydraulics and have read many threads regarding rear remotes, but I want to run this by the experts. This setup is a little different than most I have seen on this forum.

I want to place a VFG1009 dual spool open center valve between the power beyond from the loader valve and the 3 point hitch to use for top and tilt like others have done on this forum. I would also like to use the power beyond on the new VFG1009 valve to quick couplers for my log splitter. My log splitter has a single spool open center valve.

Please see attached drawing. Will this work? I don’t want to damage my hydraulics.

Thank You.

Does anyone know if this will work? I still would like to add top and tilt valve in addition to quick connects for the log splitter to my B2620. Yes, I have procrastinated this long! Thanks!

I'll take a stab. The way you have shown won't work right.
The port you have labelled 'out' should be called 'tank' - it must be a low pressure return to the reservoir.
The PB port would feed your 3 pt lift.
You could put quick disconnects on the line to the 3 pt. Then, when you want to use the splitter, disconnect the 3 pt (disabling it) and connect the pressure line to the log splitter. Put a tee in the tank line and put a qd there. Connect the return from the splitter to that connector and you're ready to split.
I'm looking for confirmation from others on here, and someone may have a better way.

Yea, after reviewing this for some time, I thought that "out" would be low pressure and would not operate the 3PH. I was also thinking of using a diverter/splitter, but I'm not sure that would work. I'm a lot more comfortable with electricity than hydraulics!

Thank You for the quick response!

Check out this thread. Bandaidmd did a great write up of his B2620 rear hydraulic installation. I used it to do my B2920.

The out port is designed to route oil to the tank from the pressure relief valve when opened and when using as a PB circuit. This will be low pressure. The PB port would have to routed to the quick connects and them to the 3pt valve. When not using the quick connect circuit you would have to loop a hose between them to complete the circuit.

With only 4.7gpm it may be a little slow. With a 4x18" cylinder your cycle time out will be abut 15 seconds with 12.5 tons of maximum force

PoTreeBoy is close.

Out of the added valve goes to tank, PB will go to a quick disconnect then the other side of the quick disconnect will go back to the three point.

There is no line to tank off a loop for a splitter.

You might want to try it first as log splinters on that small of a hydraulic system tend to be very very slow!

Another thing is you MUST have the tractor off to disconnect and reconnect the log splitter, not doing so can blow the seals out of the pump.

EDIT: Others type way faster than me! :p

Now I'm confused. Where does the return line from the splitter go?

Like NIW back to the 3pt valve. You have to complete the circuit. That being said the splitter valve really should be designed for use in a PB circuit. It may work fine but it could cause problems with the pressure relief in the splitter valve

edited to correct from 3pt to splitter valve.

Doesn't that risk putting excessive backpressure on the splitter valve if the 3 pt is raised?
Nope, not at all

NOTE: The log splitter MUST have an open center valve for it to work on your system.

If the log splitter valve has a pressure relief valve then it will have a tank line too.
I've never run into one that has that option.

That's odd because I don't know If I have ever seen a wood splitter that didn't have a PRV incorporated into the valve. Running a separate relief would not be cost effective.

Remember it's an OPEN system there is no back pressure and yes the incorporate PRV just passes on over pressure Via the PB port not a tank port.

To say there is no backpressure in an open center system is not accurate. As stated in one of the other threads it all depends on what restrictions lie in the path back to the reservoir.

All, Thank You for the advice, NIW, good explanation, now I see why this won't work. BAP, thanks for the reference to "My B2620 mods". I have referenced bandaidmd's thread before, but didn't see the details about tapping the 3PH line. After reviewing this and reading the advice given, (I get nervous when I hear blown pump seals) I think I will tap into the 3PH line with quick connects and "loop it" when no implements are being used. Then quick connects to top and tilt or log splitter valve (both open center) when needed (engine off). I think that will work.

ruger1980 and NIW you are correct, I built a small log splitter with a 3" cylinder running off the front loader connections (bungee cord) right now and it is a little slow, but I don't heat with wood, just fireplace and fire pit wood, so it's more for therapy. (y) It does have a regenerating valve which speeds things up a bit.

Thanks again for the help!

The only regret I have about buying my tractor is, I didn't buy it 30 years ago...

You can safely plumb in the added valve like you wanted because in the event of you disconnecting or any other issue with anything after this valve the pressure relief valve (PRV) in this block will kick in to save the system from damage.
You must set the pressure of the valve properly after installation.

You will also need this part to go with the valve:

NIW, so I would put this power beyond adapter sleeve in the
valve port PB and then out to 3PH when using this valve, correct?
(remove all references to log splitter on drawing)
