B1700 charging issue. The factory dynamo is not keeping my battery full . There is a heater blower, a windshield wiper, lights, a backup camera and a beacon. I use my tractor for snow removal. I'm looking for a kit to upgrade to a 40 amp alternator. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you do a search of this site, I think you will find a thread or two about using a automotive alternator for the purpose of upgrading.

If I remember right, it is an automotive alternator that includes a voltage regulator internally and I believe it’s a one wire alternator, meaning the output voltage comes on one wire and the alternator is grounded to the engine/frame via it’s mounting bracket. Or something like that…

Again, if I remember right, the automotive alternator approach is much cheaper than using a Kubota alternator, and you get the option for much higher capacity as well.

The WSM had a section for upgrading the dynamo to a 40 amp alternator.
I have attached it because it gives you ideas on how to install the alternator.
Today's alternators with integral regulators makes things much easier.
Dont get carried away with too big an alternator as drive pulley size will limit how much power you g=cn get from the engine.
There are one wire alternators which further simplify the wiring. The one in the link provided is a small form factor which makes fitting in it a tight engine compartment easier
One wire
The B7100 did not have a warning light for no charge so with a simple volt meter and one wire alternator the wiring installation is simple.

Thanks for the info. Just ordered a B7211 40 amp kit from Coleman Equipment out of Kansas. It is supposed to fit the B1700. It's a nice looking kit .I'll post later after the install.

Dave,
Got to be careful, he's got a B1700, not a B7100... I know confusing right!
