I changed out the oil, using

Shell ROTELLA T5 10W-30 Synthetic Blend, Heavy Duty Engine Diesel Oil, with a new filter...

Hmmm, the hydraulic whining is back, when just driving around... it was nice while it lasted.

One more question.

B2601 calls for 10w30 in colder environments and 15w40 in warmer.
Any harm in getting a wider range Mobil 1 diesel 5w40

I run 5w30 year round. The 5w40 should work just fine.
