I'm sure this info is already here but I can't find it. My dealer is 60 miles away and I forgot to get a filter ahead of time. Is there a cross to match mine to a generic filter? And that goes for the tranny oil filter too. Didn't take any oil so I didn't buy any yet, probably go with synthetic. Doesn't call for tranny fluid change, just filter. I see some drain it and go synthetic there also.

Thanks in advance!

ok, NOT what you want to hear......
drive to the dealer - buy 3 engine filters and 2 hydraulic filters and the oil....

this way - the cost of NEXT time you change - you'll have everything you need and the drive will be worth it!;)

It is a long drive for me too, but I'm with the Hokie, except I'd get 6 and 4.

I dislike driving into town.

Why exactly 50 hours? I recommend you wait until a convenient time to go to the dealer. Then change the filter. You might lose a little oil,but really not a big deal when you see what abuse tractors can take with little or no
maintenance. If they can't take it, you don't want them.

It definitely won't hurt if you wait till 56 hours, or so, or when it's convenient to run to town and get the filters and oil. It really doesn't " need" an oil change, it's mainly to remove any particles from the system.

^^^^^^^^^^^ What he said and what cerlawson said ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

50 IS just a number - then again so is 75...... I would go there when it is somewhat convenient for you rather than stop right in the middle of the field at 50.00 hours and shut her down!!!!:p

At a certain point - buying the filters and fluids at Messicks or Colemans Eq are cheeeapeer than the ol local dealer.....but shipping is a beeeeaaauch on the check book - I priced S-udt2 at both and filters shipped - then went to my local dealer - 25 minutes trip, and paid within a dollar the same.....no shipping but tax was 5.3% !:)

For the the Hydrostatic transmission it already has synthetic: Super udt2 and you will probably want to stick with the Super udt2. You will need less then a quart to replace the oil in the old filter. A quart is just enough to replace the oil lost in both the 50 hr and 200 hr filter change or you could get a gallon to be safe (I am also 60 miles away from the dealer).

Thanks everyone, I'm going to call the dealer and have my girlfriend pick them up. She goes almost past the dealer on Thursdays for work. I've just been waiting for that fresh clean feeling you get with clean oil, you know how it seems to run smoother and all. Been wanting to do it early but just never got to it. It will not go over 55 hours.

Hey BotaLota: Here is a thought. Print out your post. Attach it to the rear cover of your tractor manual. Every once in a while take a look at it through the years. As you mellow it will give you nice thoughts and maybe some amusement.

The 50 hour service on the HST includes cleaning the pick-up strainer. There will be some oil loss there, as well as what the filter itself contains. As far as crossing filters, I would not even entertain the thought while under warranty. It's not an argument you want to go through with your dealer. Really doesn't matter if the filter is at fault, it puts you in a bad position. Please just take my word on this, I work for an ag dealership as a department head.
